CHONGQING - A fire that had been raging in a forest park and also a tourist attraction since mid-day Tuesday in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality has been put out, local authorities said Wednesday.
No casualties have been reported in the fire, which had spread across almost 50 hectares of the scenic spot of Chashanzhuhai in Chongqing's Yongchuan District, a spokesman for the fire-fighting headquarter said.
More than 2,400 firefighters and volunteers had joined in the operation to combat the blaze, which was put out at 9 a.m. Wednesday, the spokesman said.
The scenic area, whose name literally means "mountain of tea trees and a sea of bamboo," features about 1,333 hectares of tea trees and 3,333 hectares of bamboos. The film "House of Flying Daggers," directed by Zhang Yimou, was shot there.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
