CHONGQING - More than 1,000 firefighters and volunteers are battling a raging fire that broke out midday Tuesday at a tourist attraction in Chongqing municipality, local authorities said.

The fire first started in Zhangjiakou Village in Yongchuan District and then spread to the Chashanzhuhai scenic spot, according to the municipal forest fire control office.

Despite the massive firefighting effort -- which includes a helicopter -- the blaze continued to rage as of 5 pm Tuesday, it said.

Authorities said the area's rugged terrain has hampered efforts.

No casualties have been reported.

The scenic area, whose name means "mountain of tea trees and a sea of bamboos," has about 1,333 hectares of tea trees and 3,333 hectares of bamboos. The film "House of Flying Daggers," directed by Zhang Yimou, was shot there.
