Ingrid Vahland, adviser to Volkswagen's Green Future Environmental Education Initiative (GFEEI), encouraged students at Lhasa No 8 Middle School to show their passion for nature on Sept 4 by drawing pictures on traditional Tibetan paper.
Along with Chinese environmental education experts Guo Geng and Han Jing, she also helped students learn the value of nature while playing games.
The GFEEI was begun in 2007 by the German auto conglomerate in conjunction with China's Center for Environmental Education and Communications at the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
Over the past three years, the "Green Class" initiative of the GFEEI has been to 24 schools in 13 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across China to raise environmental awareness in the younger generation.
