A landmark bridge and a neighboring high-rise building were demolished by explosion on June 6 in Maotai town, a township known by the world-famous baijiu brand Moutai in Southwest China's Guizhou province. The Maotai Bridge broke ground in December 1988 but collapsed in 1990. Its reconstruction started in October 1992 and was completed two years later. The bridge was destructed this time to make way for further development in the town.
