More and better favorable visa policies towards Chinese tourists issued by many countries are attracting an increasing number of travelers to spend their Spring Festival overseas. A report showed that more Chinese traveled abroad during this holiday this year than those who traveled domestically, accounting for 60 percent of the total number.
Jointly released by one of China's top online travel agencies, Ctrip.com, and the China Tourism Academy, the study said that Chinese tourists spent more money on traveling in the past holiday. Ctrip's customers spent more than 1 billion yuan on traveling and a record spending of 160,000 yuan per person were made by a young couple who travelled to Antarctica.
The report estimates that Chinese tourists will generate 3.9 trillion yuan in revenue this year.
