BEIJING -- China International Capital Corporation (CICC), the country's first joint venture investment bank, has named Liang Hong as its Chief Economist, replacing Peng Wensheng, the company said Friday.
Liang, formerly head of CICC's Research Department, joined CICC in 2008. With many years of experience in macroeconomic research, Liang has accumulated a profound knowledge of Chinese and global capital markets, according to a CICC statement.
Liang obtained her Ph.D in Economics from Georgetown University in 1998, and her Bachelor Degree in International Relations from Peking University in 1991, it said.
Liang joined CICC from Goldman Sachs (Asia) LLC where she served as the Managing Director, and the chief China economist and Co-head of Asian Pacific Economic Research between 2003 and 2008. Before that, she worked at the International Monetary Fund as an economist from 1998 to 2003.
