Although the growth rate of global shipping container manufacturing has slowed to a single digit, China will remain the largest container manufacturing country, said a leading container producer on Tuesday.
China contributed to more than 96 percent of the global shipping container supply in 2013, with almost all of them fully made in China, Huang Tianhua, assistant president of China International Marine Containers (Group) Ltd (CIMC), said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
Shenzhen-listed CIMC is the world's largest shipping container builder, and supplies half of all global container orders.
"Given China's rising domestic trade volume, container manufacturing is still a vigorous industry, with no sign of any other country replacing China in the next 10 to 15 years," Huang said.
