Delivery of a new multiple-unit electric train, bound for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, got under way on Friday in Changchun, Jilin province.
The train, a new type produced by CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Co, has four carriages per electric set and can travel at a maximum speed of 100 km per hour.
The EMU will serve the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament to ease traffic pressure. It will connect the main stadium with urban areas of the city, the company said.
The maximum passenger load for an EMU train can reach 1,300 people, it said.
The train shipped out on Friday is one of the second batch, with another 59 train sets to be delivered soon, according to the company.
Trains in first batch of 30 are running at five main subway lines in Rio de Janeiro.
