Large Medium SmallWumart failed in its attempted acquisition of 36 C.P. Lotus Corp chain stores.
Both companies released announcements on Monday.
Wumart announced in October that it planned to acquire 36 Lotus chain stores in Beijing, Shanghai and some provinces, other than Guangdong and Hunan for HK$2.345 billion ($302 million).
Despite extensive negotiations, no consensus was reached beyond the 60-day framework agreement.
