The local quality watchdog in Shangxi has said on its website that Coca-Cola products that have recently been under question are safe and meet national standards.

A Coca-Cola (Shanxi) Beverage Limited staff exposed information that a total of 120,000 boxes of the drink contained residual chlorine and were sold to rural areas, according to China Youth Daily.

But the company denied the claim in a statement to the paper.

The Shanxi Province Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision assessed the products Tuesday and released test results early Wednesday morning.
