The government of Fengtai district, Beijing, together with movie companies, has offered thousands of free movie tickets to its citizens during the fourth season of the Culture in Beijing activity.

So far, six rounds of free movie activities have been held, attracting over 4,500 citizens to the designated cinemas for six of the latest films, including Operation Mekong, The BFG, Mission Milano, Mechanic: Resurrection, Mafiya: Survival Game, and Inferno.

Though the tickets were free of charge, the movie companies were safe from economic loss. The six cinemas involved in the activity generated over 180,000 yuan, as there was a promising market in movie derivatives as well as food and beverage products in the cinema.

More free movies will be offered in November. Unlike the six ones with fixed times and theaters, audience members can choose which films and when and where to watch in November.
