The signing ceremony of a Strategic Partnership Agreement on a National Sustainable Urbanization Big Database was held in Jackson Wang Hall, School of Architecture in Tsinghua University on the morning on Dec 20. The Institute for China Sustainable Urbanization, Tsinghua University, China Unicom Smartsteps Data Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Global Safety Technology Co., Ltd., SequoiaDB, Tsinghua Tongheng Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd. and Gvitech Technologies Co., Ltd. were the signatories. The new urbanization big database will be the largest and most authoritative to date.
Professor Zhuang Weimin, the director of the school of architecture at Tsinghua University and the deputy director of the Institute for China Sustainable Urbanization, hosted the ceremony. Chen Yajun, the deputy director of the department of development planning in the National Development Reform Commission, the deputy director of the Institute for China Sustainable Urbanization, and Wang Yan, member of the Tsinghua University standing committee and the deputy director of the school administration committee were in attendance.
The National Sustainable Urbanization Big Database was launched by the National Development Reform Commission and Tsinghua University, and is intended to strengthen the effect of big data in urban construction and to provide data support for new solutions, operations, monitoring and evaluation in urban areas.
Tsinghua University, with help from Tongfang Group, the Tongheng Planning and Design Institute and Gvitech was the leader in the construction of the database, which is now undergoing primary testing.
Six enterprises in the signing ceremony are leaders in new urbanization and have advantages in sky-earth integration information technology, China Unicom smart steps big data technology, public security, disaster prevention and management, and distributed databases. They are well positioned to advise on and carry out town and country planning and new urbanization, and develop multidimensional spatio-temporal information platforms with town and country CIM technology. All the partners will exchange and share data to optimize spatial analysis technology and analysis models to achieve integration of data from government, the space program, and users. Meanwhile, the big database will rely on distributed big data technologies to build multidimensional spatio-temporal information CIM platforms and try to achieve 3D visualization of decision information through virtual simulation.
The president of Beijing Global Safety Technology Co.,Ltd., professor Yuan Hongyong, introduced public security technologies. The company uses big data to analyze public security and improve disaster prediction and coping mechanisms.
The deputy general manager of Space Star Technology Co., Ltd., He Dahai, said that the company is the support unit for satellite applications of the China Aerospace Science and Technology institute, providing solutions, system integration, equipment manufacturing and operation services for national defense and various industries and regions.
Li Zhenjun, the general manager of China Unicom Smart Steps Data Technology Co., Ltd gave a speech on the development of smart steps which depend on data from China Unicom to focus on big data applications. China Unicom Smart Steps is the only professional big data company among the three operators.
Gu Dongqiao, the director of SequoiaDB, said that company’s database enjoys intellectual property protection and will build a solid data storing platform for national urbanization.
Yuan Xin, the director of the Tsinghua Tongheng Planning and Design Institute, said that the institute will create a sharing mechanism to support all the technologies.
Chi Wei, the chairman and general manager of Gvitech Technologies Co., Ltd. indicated that Gvitech has the nationally leading and largest geographic information system and CIM platform. Gvitech will support the development of a multidimensional spatio-temporal information CIM platform to meet demands of big database construction.
The executive vice president of Tsinghua University's Institute for China Sustainable Urbanization introduced the big database construction process.
The signing of the strategic partnership agreement will speed up the construction of a national urbanization urban platform big database, while founding an evaluation system for big data applications as well as pilot project construction. Tsinghua University’s Institute for China Sustainable Urbanization will cooperate with schools, enterprises, and Chinese and international authorities to promote healthy development of Chinese urbanization construction.
