“The Spring Festival Travel Rush tickets will be available in Beijing tomorrow, which may lead to heavy traffic pressure around railway stations,” officials said Wednesday.
The Spring Festival Travel Rush, also known as Chunyun in Chinese, has been dubbed the largest annual migration in the world. During the rush, China, especially its railway system, faces an extremely high traffic load, which results in great difficulties in obtaining tickets, and crowded railway stations and train carriages.
The Beijing MunicipalTraffic Control department said that some passengers preferred to purchase tickets online or via phone, but others still chose to purchase tickets at booths.
Therefore, the traffic congestion is estimated to worsen at the railway stations in Beijing. Here are some detours around the four railway stations for reference.
