The first Blue Book on the Streets, also known as the development report of 15 streets in Xicheng district, was released at the 2016 Innovative Social Governance Xicheng Summit held on December 13 in Beijing.
The Blue Book, structured around the examination of modern governability, considered Xicheng’s urban management, social governance, public service, community building, Party building and street operation, in order toexplore the general rules of mega city governance.
“The renovations of 110 boutique Hutongs have nearly been completed,” said Su Hao, director of the Dashilar Street office. “The fire safety measures, including smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and kitchen equipment replacement will be applied,” he added. Su also confirmed theconversion of overhead power lines into an underground program in Yingtao Hutong, Yingtaoxie Street and TieshuXie Street will be launched in 2017.
In addition, the government vowed to crack down on what it deems to be ‘illegal actions’ next year, with particular focus on the subletting of state-owned houses.
Sang Pengfei, director of the West Chang’an Street office said, “As a priority for the upcoming year, a big data platform associated with an app will be established, and citizens will also be able to easily obtain services online.”
