First snow turns Beijing white and beautiful

Amateur photographers and tourists flocked to the park to take photos as first snow of the season blanketed the capital. According to the Beijing meteorological authority, much of the city has been hit with snow since 8 pm on Sunday. The rain and snow are forecast to last more than 40 hours, with a blizzard possible for the western and northern areas of the city. The departments of transportation, environment, power and heating in the capital have initiated emergency plans to cope with the severe weather. [Photo/IC]
