The 2016 China Sustainable Urbanization Forum and the inaugural conference for the Institute for China Sustainable Urbanization, Tsinghua University (TUCSU) were held on Oct 18 at Tsinghua University.
More than hundred distinguished guests from China and abroad attended the event and discussed the theory, policy and practice of sustainable urbanization in China.
TUCSU, a non-profit academic research organization co-founded by the National Development and Reform Commission and Tsinghua University, is based on the sustainable urbanization study platform between the UK and China developed in March.

Hu Zucai, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, Chen Xu, secretary of Tsinghua University and Nick Low, chancellor of the British Urbanization delegation, delivered addresses to extend their congratulations.
“The institute should combine theory with practice and utilize advanced global concepts to spur sustainable urbanization in China and satisfy surging demand, even at a very rough time”, Hu stressed in his speech.
Chen pointed out that “Tsinghua has excellent teaching and academic traditions and world competitiveness in the sustainable urbanization field. The institute should use this advantage for future development”.
On behalf of the National Development and Reform Commission and Tsinghua University respectively, Hu and Chen signed the agreement establishing a national sustainable urbanization data base framework.
The forum was held after the ceremony and completion of all speeches.
