Counter-Strike plays an important role in China’s electronic gaming industry, having generated its rise to prosperity and a lot of happy times for Chinese gamers.
Co-organized by China’s General Administration of Sport, the CGA, Chengde’s sports bureau and the administrative committee of Chengde hi-tech zone, CSL2016, an electronic gaming tournament, wound up in Chengde on September 27.
CSL2016 attracted more than more than 128 electronic gaming teams. After six long months of competitions, four top teams won the right to fight for the championship. Finally, Team TYLOO defeated its rivals to be the winner in China.

“As a brand-new sporting event, the reason why CSL Final chooses Chengde as its host city instead of first-tier cities, where the gaming industry is relatively developed, is Chengde’s orientation as the big data center for Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei,” said Zhang Shuguo, the director general of the Chengde sports bureau. He noted that Chengde is aiming at developing a variety of distinct sports, including winter sports, outdoor sports, electronic gaming and ethnic sports.
Zhang said that Chengde has attracted many enterprises specializing in big data. In the future, Chengde will hold more electronic gaming tournaments to bring together gaming enthusiasts, and people from the gaming industry and big data companies.
Chengde is planning to implement a strategic partnership mechanism. It will cooperate with relevant departments to organize high-end events and build a quality training base, set up a special fund for game industrialization, set up gaming majors in Chengde’s universities and provide training and competition venues for gaming clubs.
