“Expeditions like these build a bridge between professional scientific investigation and the public. In other words, they explain what scientific investigation is in a much more popular way, and help the public to walk into nature and respect it,” said Zhao Shengli, deputy secretary general of the China Wildlife Conservation Association.
In 2015, the first session of Beautiful China & Cross-sectoral Expedition brought the “cross-sectoral” idea into serious scientific investigation. The activity aims to transmit the concept of ecological civilization, and advance the green growth and sustainable development of natural conservation areas. It has gained support from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the MBA Center of Beijing Forestry University, the Beijing Jintai Art Museum and the Daqianshehui Innovation Center. Last November, the first Beautiful China & Cross-sectoral Expedition walked into Shiqian county, Guiyang province, having attracted five times as many visitors as the area used to draw.
At the news conference, Deputy Director of Xishui county Chen Qianyao presented rich local natural and historical human resources.
