It was recently determined that a third generation semiconductor innovation base is to be constructed in Shunyi Park. About one hundred experts from scientific research institutions, enterprises and investment institutions attended the foundation ceremony.

The innovation base aims to make a major breakthrough on key technology in 3rd generation semiconductor manufacturing by uniting talents around the world and building a professional, market-oriented and international 3rd semiconductor manufacturing system.

The base will help to form an industrial cluster and take over the high ground of the semiconductor market.

The innovation base will be constructed and operated by the Guolian Wanzhong Semicondutor Co., Ltd. of Beijing. Two other companies, Rayvio of the US and Technische Universiteit Delft of the Netherlands also signed cooperation agreements with Guolian.

So far, 18 enterprises have decided to settle in the base.

The innovation base's first phase involves investment of nearly 90 million yuan ($13.5 million) and an area of more than 30,000 square meters. Construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2017.
