China's 2016 G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting was successfully held at Sunrise Kempinski Hotel Beijing & Yanqi Island on June 30.
To ensure the event went smoothly, the hotel set up a special task force headed by General Manager Brice Pean to create a detailed action plan for the event.
This included trial runs, training and cooperation with the national and public security bureaus to ensure the necessary security was in place, as well as special arrangements for Muslim guests as the meeting was held during Ramadan.
After the event the vice-premier of China expressed appreciation for the thoughtful arrangements and expressed praise for how well it was organized.
The hotel was designed to host such global summits and large-scale international meetings, and this is the third time such a high-profile global gathering has been held at the hotel. It debuted to great attention as the host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders' Meeting in November 2014 and hosted the Understanding China Conference in November 2015.
Situated 60 kilometers north of Beijing's city center, alongside picturesque Yanqi Lake in the Huairou district, Sunrise Kempinski Hotel Beijing & Yanqi Island is the group's largest property in China.
Owned by State-owned Beijing Enterprise Group and managed by Kempinski, it is actually a complex of different hotels: the Sunrise Kempinski Hotel Beijing & Yanqi Island located along the lake, as well as Yanqi Hotel and 12 boutique hotels, located on Yanqi Island.
In all there are 594 guestrooms and suites, 11 restaurants and bars, two Kempinski The Spa, a private marina, the Yanqi Pagoda, recreational and fitness facilities, a Kids Club, as well as beautifully-landscaped gardens.
The meetings facilities include Yanqi Hotel's 8,277-square-meter Conference Center, four ballrooms and 23 meeting rooms. Each of the 12 boutique hotels has its own meeting room.
The successful hosting of the G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting was another milestone in China for Europe's oldest luxury hotel group, which has been in China for 23 years.
Over that time, it has developed a deep understanding of China and Chinese culture, and established an enviable reputation for the quality of its service and hospitality.
So be it dining with loved ones, celebrating a wedding, entertaining business associates, hosting a meeting or staging a large international event, Sunrise Kempinski Hotel Beijing & Yanqi Island has an appropriate venue, an experienced team and wonderful setting to make it a success.
