The "2016 E-Town Health Industries Fair", hosted by the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) and the alumni association of Peking University, and undertaken by the BDA's organization department and science and technology bureau and Peking University’s entrepreneurship boot camp, was held in the BDA on July 10. Specialists and professors in the health area gathered to discuss trends in the worldwide and Chinese health industries. In addition, the opening ceremony of Peking University’s entrepreneurship boot camp at the E-town base was held. The camp aims to improve the health industry including personnel training.
This fair has four important focuses: the first is to clarify the status of Zhongguancun bio-medicine innovative enterprises in both the Chinese and global health industries to help shape the Beijing health industry; the second is to clarify the development direction of the Beijing bio-medicine industry, with regard to important original scientific discoveries and industrial breakthroughs and to further shape the form of the capital’s health industry; the third is to clarify the direction of new structural reform and development, and to combine Beijing’s scientific and intelligent resources to serve Chinese medicine and ensure health supplies, face the challenges of an aging population and chronic diseases, and cultivate and develop bio-medicine strategic industries; the last is to clarify how to rationally utilize scientific innovation, enterprise innovation and talent team construction, making the BDA into a base for high-tech bio-medicine talents and providing support for and a guarantee of human resources in development and transformation of Beijing industry.
The famous mass entrepreneurship and innovation platform, the Peking University business boot camp, was officially established in the BDA. Its opening ceremony welcomed ten excellent mass entrepreneurship and innovation enterprises. In the future, business boot camps will explore the BDA’s role in ensuring quality in industrial and innovation clusters, from offering entrepreneurship education, tutor services, policy development, industrial support, encouragement of startups, angel investments in whole chain support platforms, and commitments to promotion and development of health industries, to creation of high-tech talents with a place to realize their dreams.
Chen Zhu, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National people's Congress and chairman of the Chinese Peasants' and Worker's Democratic Party, sent a congratulatory message to the fair. He Wei, vice secretary of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Ke Yang, vice president of Peking University and deputy director of the BDA'S management committee, gave speeches at the fair.
