The fourth China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services, which is also known as the Beijing Fair or CIFTIS, is open today and will welcome about 1,000 domestic and overseas companies, and more than 20,000 visitors to share their experiences in 12 trade and services sectors.
Hot topics will include convention and exhibition services, international medical services, design services and language translation services.
An exhibition area that will highlight the coordinated development progress of China's Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will be launched at the CIFTIS, which will be held through June 1 at the China National Convention Center.
It will be the first time that the region has had a joint exhibition area at the fair.
As Beijing and Zhangjiakou in Hebei province prepare to co-host the 2022 Winter Olympics, winter sports and the 2022 Winter Olympics will be the main theme of the exhibition, according to the Beijing Sports Bureau, one of the hosts of the fair. About 30 percent of the exhibitors will be related to winter sports, covering fields such as venue operation, investment and professional clubs, the host said.
Focusing on the idea of a "movable convention and exhibition", the convention and exhibition areas will see many mobile internet enterprises and platforms introduce their products and services, with the aim of exploring the use of internet technologies in developing the convention and exhibition sector.
In addition, a forum that aims to encourage more domestic convention and exhibition enterprises to develop their overseas business strategies will be held at this year's Beijing fair. Industrial experts and business insiders will discuss how such enterprises can develop in overseas markets.
Themed on "Connecting the world, interconnecting health", the international medical services sector at the fair will discuss topics such as internet medical services, medical insurance, health management and community medical services. About 100 exhibition stands from more than 20 countries and regions will be on display at the fair.
Wang Shuping, from the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the host of the international medical and health services sector, said that the sector will promote the international exchange and development of medical and health services.
The sector's trade volume during the fair is expected to hit 1 billion yuan ($163.9 million), according to insiders.
Another hot sector at this year's Beijing Fair will be the design services.
Hosted by Dragon Design Foundation, the sector will focus on the idea of green and environment friendly designs. Project information relating to green agricultural technologies, the uses of new energies and food processing will also be released at the exhibition, according to the organizers.
Some well-known domestic design and creative parks, such as the Hui Culture Industry Park and the Design Resource Cooperation in Beijing will be invited to showcase their achievements and introduce their services and preferential policies for design businesses. Enterprises and service providers from the language translation sector will be at the fair.
On May 31, the language translation services sector will hold a conference at the fair to discuss how language and translation services can benefit from the continuing success of the Belt and Road Initiative. The use of artificial intelligence and speech recognition in the translation sector will be discussed.
Yang Ping, the deputy secretary-general with the Translation Association of China, the host of the conference, said this is the first time the translation sector will hold a conference at the Beijing Fair. The fair will connect the language translation sector and the intellectual property sector, according to Yang.
China Wisdom Services Summit and China International Software and Information Services Enterprises Conference will be launched on May 30.
The event, focusing on services in the outsourcing industry, will be an important part of the Beijing Fair. Businesses from information services, commercial circulation and the online to offline sectors will gather at the fair to discuss how to use new information technologies.
