"We never change our mind about making life better with the power of technology," said Li Yan, COO of Niu.com, at the beginning of the release. The company is committed to bringing convenient medium- and short-distance trips to cities in an environmentally-friendly way.
M1 series products are in line with our goal as a combination of technical advances, fun and a smarter lifestyle, Li said. The new design of frame, materials, batteries, and damper makes the M1 much lighter than our former N1 series, with the 8.3-kilogram battery lasting for 120 kilometers.
They also become even smarter with Niu App 2.0 providing all the information riders need to know, including the scooter's location, battery life, and riding distance.
In addition, designed to be more than a normal scooter, the newly released M1 products have been highly improved in their appearance to meet customers' need for a fashionable life; especially targeting young people aged from 22 to 35.
M1 products provide five color options--white, grey, blue, red, and yellow.
The M1 series has launched four models, the M1lite, the M1C, the M1S, and the top-of-the-line M1 Pro, taking different customer demands into consideration. They are priced from 3,299 yuan ($508) to 6,299 yuan, and will be available on JD.com as of April 27.
Niu.com will offer free test rides in ten cities nationwide for those interested in having a hands-on experience. The service will start in Beijing and Suzhou on Apr 23-24, in Shanghai and Hangzhou in May, and other cities later.
In early 2016 Niu.com built an innovation lab in Shanghai, focusing on both principal and ancillary products and on research and development, said Li Yan, adding that the company's manufacturing base in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, is also expanding with monthly unit output increasing to 50,000 from 20,000.
Between last June and April 20 the company sold 52,721 N1 e-scooters.
