Guo Jianxin, an employee in Beijing's Longtan Park, is a hero in his colleagues' eyes. Earlier this spring he jumped into the freezing lake to save a drowning old man.
It was around 8:20 am on April 23 when Guo heard a visitor fall into the water. Without hesitation, he jumped into the water and towed the semiconscious man to the bank.
Ignoring his own exhaustion and freezing cold, Guo hurried to find an overcoat for the old man.
Guo Jianxin's heroic deed spread around the park but his colleagues were not surprised. They can tell many stories like this about Guo.
In 2013, when Guo was on patrol, he found a man waving a long knife at a woman. Guo followed behind the man and looked for a good opportunity to wrestle the knife away.
Guo caught the man's attention with a sudden loud shout and then kicked him down to the ground. His wit and bravery prevented a violent crime.
