Mind Education recently held its 14th National Fundamental Education Forum in Beijing.
Mind Education, an institution in which offers overseas study tours such as summer and winter camps, announced that it would participate in drafting standards for study tours and research. The group also released a standardized plan for summer and winter camps.
The industry has lacked professional standards and rules for a long time. Most operators are tourism agencies, and a little part is education institutions. Many institutions follow the adult tourists groups’ standards to treat the student groups, which influences the education effects.
The country has launched policies to support and encourage children’s participation in social events. The standardized plan is based on the existing standards in tourism and education, according to Wang Ruijing, vice president of Mind Education Group.
The plan covers management of services, tutors, doctors, transportation, and parent consignment agreements. It provides detailed requirements on transportation, accommodation, catering, guided tours, and performances.
The plan also gives guidance on safety management, funds, security reminders, and preparing for emergencies.
The oversea study tour include summer and winter camps as well as research trips, which is an educational activity integrating sightseeing and studying and is also an important complementary education to the ones in school.
Li Ming, founder of Mind Education, says that the education institution has been developing the standards and rules of the industry since its founding in 2006.
The group has completed its B Round financing and has received investments of around one billion yuan ($157.2 million). It’s A Round investor is Ctrip, the country’s largest online tourism agency. The B Round investor is a global capital fund institution, whose management team has invested in the largest study tour group in the US. The group aims to become an industrial leader in three to five years.
The group was founded by alumni from Tsinghua University, a leading education institution. The group provides 200 types of summer and winter camps for students aged from three to eighteen, and has provided educational services to more than 800,000 students from 3,000 primary and middle schools.
