There is a special couple in the No 1 Hospital of Beijing's Huairou district -- Li Hong, 43, a surgeon, and his wife, Wang Hong, a head nurse. Although they both suffer from cancer, they never give up their courage and responsibility as medical workers.

In 2013, Li Hong planned a holiday to Bali to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. However, several days before the trip, Li Hong was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He had to cancel the journey and receive painful treatment.

On the last day of 2013, Li Hong had surgery to remove the tumor. During his recovery, Li heard from colleagues that a colon cancer patient suffered from prolonged high fever after surgery and doctors could not find the reason. He put on a doctor's uniform over his patient's clothes and turned to the patient for more information.

After a discussion with his colleagues, Li Hong found the reason and made a treatment plan for his fever.

Misfortunes never come alone. Wang Hong was diagnosed with thyroid cancer during the Spring Festival of 2014.

Although the couple suffered from serious illness, they still show up whenever they are needed. One night at about 11:00 pm, Li Hong was called to operate on a patient with a knife wound. He hurried to the hospital and about 20 minutes later Wang Hong showed up in the operating room and assisted her husband on the surgery.
