A porcelain cultural experience activity at the Beijing Faience Museum of Jurentang Beijing Porcelain Culture Co Ltd showcased Beijing's decorative porcelain and its history, on Oct 30.
The cultural experience activity, themed "A Perception of 'china'- Tribute to Earth", was one of Xicheng district's activities held for the 10th China Beijing International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo, Oct 29-Nov 1.
By integrating exhibition and cultural experience, the activity helped Beijingers know more about the porcelain and its history.
Beijing decorative porcelain, commonly known as Beijing porcelain in the style of the ancients, is characterized by its use of such decorative techniques as pastel, variegated color, polychrome painting, and enamel; it is noted for refined colors and elegant shapes.
It started from the end of the Qing Dynasty and, with a history of over 100 years, is on Beijing's intangible cultural heritage list.
Jurentang Beijing Porcelain Culture Co, a time-honored enterprise specializing in designing, producing and dealing in Beijing porcelain for decoration, collection, and daily use, is one of the most influential glazed-color porcelain enterprises in North China.
The activity also featured talks by experts about the porcelain.
