Bright Badaling red leaves

In the Red Leaves Valley scenic spot of the Badaling National Forest Park, the leaves have bright colors, turn red very early and close to visitors.

There are three reasons for the bright colors. First, low temperature and large temperature changes make it easier for maple leaves to turn red. In addition, the trees are in their prime of life (20-30 years old) and the pure mountain air keeps the leaves intact and gorgeous in color.

The scenic spot is the earliest place in Beijing to see red leaves, about half month earlier than downtown, thanks to the high altitude and flourishing forest, which is five degrees centigrade cooler than downtown. The leaves begin to turn red from Sept 24 to Nov 4, and middle October is the best time to visit.

The scenic spot is situated near the wrecked Great Wall, adding wildness and purity. Visitors can view autumn leaves all over the mountains at a close distance.
