The Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum was held at the Beijing Zhongguancun China Electronic Building on October 19. The forum, part of Zhongguancun’sInnovation and Entrepreneurship Season, was jointly launched by the National Public Entrepreneurship Event Week Organization, KPMG Innovation and Entrepreneurship Sharing Centre, and the Zhongguancun Entrepreneurship Street.
It was the first event hosted by the KPMG Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre. Investors, businesses, experts, and scholars from all around the world talked about entrepreneurship. KPMG released its supporting strategy for the first time during the forum.
Liao Zibin, president of KPMG’s Chinese Office said that the centre is the company’s 17th branch institution in China and a center for its global strategy. The forum is also the first large-scale event of the strategic cooperation between the company and the Zhongguancun Science Park’s Haidian Sub-Park. The forum aims to support the public entrepreneurship and improve the business environment. More than 100 representatives of start-ups, incubators, corporations, and government participated forum. Wu Jianlin, the chief partner of KPMG in Chinese Technology and Information Industry introduced the company’s “Graduation plus” program. Centred on the idea of “seed to speed, speed to scale” and relying on the corporation’s global network, the program will help entrepreneurs through every stage of business, from start-up to mature enterprise.
In addition, the company launched its “KPMG Entrepreneurship College” Program during the forum for the first time. Based on the “Graduate plus” concept, the company will also launch a “Peak Climbing Program” in which start-up teams are screened and assigned tutors. The tutoring services cover business model design, capital operation, market entry , and management training.
The college provides courses to help entrepreneurs learn the latest techniques. Through the courses, businesses re-examine their business models and master skills in business expansion, management, fund raising, and negotiation.
Cai Mingdu, president of the college, and the founder of the Google Eyes Entrepreneurship Program said, “The college will guide the entrepreneurs to the peak.”
Another highlight was the launch of the KPMG Start-up Connect Application. Zhang Xin, the corporation’s partner in technology, said that the success of a start-up sometimes depends on the quality of the exploration. Zhang hoped that the application will provide solutions to every role in the ecosystem and improve the success rate.
Wu said at the closing ceremony that the corporation hopes to support regional economic development in the long run and improve start-ups’ success rate.
