A big data research institute opened in Beijing, on Aug 27 to integrate and analyze industrial data.
The Beijing Big Data Institute, which is focused on transportation, finance, mobile Internet, and medical service data research, can use abundant data to find out useful information with its advanced technology and experienced specialists.
The government of Haidian district, Zhongguancun Science Park administrative committee, Peking University, and Beijing University of Technology jointly sponsored the institute, which created more than 150 high-skill jobs.
As Beijing clarified its role as a national innovation center in the integrated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, it gave full support to the institute which is expected to innovate big data use in transportation, medical service, employment, and social security. This move will raise the capital's technological level to step into its role.
Peking University and Beijing University of Technology will contribute their advantages to the big data center. Leading companies will cooperate to commercialize their research achievements.
The institute's professionals are also encouraged to launch startups in the Zhongguancun Science Park which has over 100 big data enterprises, such as Baidu, JD, Xiaomi Corp, and Yonyou. Their services,including super-scale data storage, distributed storage and computing, and artificial intelligence data analysis have reached international levels.
Sui Zhenjiang, vice-mayor of Beijing, said many professional institutions in Zhongguancun are focused on big data mining, evaluation, and trading. In 2012, Zhongguancun built China's first big data industrial alliance, and in 2014, created a platform for big data trading across the country.
The science park also signed cooperative agreements with Tianjin and Hebei province. According to the agreements, Zhongguancun is focused on data research, Hebei's cities of Zhangjiakou and Chengde will develop data storage, and Tianjin will promote data equipment manufacturing.
