To improve air quality, 12,000 plants to halt work for parade

Restrictions in Beijing for grand parade

1. Tian'anmen Rostrum closed from Aug 1 to Sept 7.

2. Peking University and Tsinghua University closed to tourists from Thursday.

3. Primary and middle schools closed until Sept 7. It has been suggested that colleges and universities remain closed until this date.

4. No entry to Tian'anmen Square and Wangfujing on Saturday and Sunday.

5. Public and vehicles barred from entering Tian'anmen Square, Wangfujing and Qianmen area to south of the square on Sept 2 and Sept 3.

6. All Beijing construction sites barred from working from Thursday to Sept 3.

7. Industries asked to temporarily stop operations or restrict production from Thursday to Sept 3.

8. Senders of mail, including express mail, must be registered via identity cards.

9. Beijing Capital International Airport and Nanyuan Airport to close from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on Sept 3, with no arrivals or departures allowed during this time.

10. Flights of hot air balloons, gliders and parachutes banned from Saturday to Sept 4.
