The unveiling ceremony of the "Zhongguancun Smart Hardware Dream Factory" was held at the Zhongguancun Science Park on June 23.
The "Dream Factory", a public service platform focusing on smart hardware, provides fast manufacturing services and promotes advanced high-tech development in Beijing.
Created in October of 2014, the "Dream Factory" was founded by the Beijing Government, Zhongguancun Administrative Commission, and the Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park Administrative Commission. It was announced as the "Zhongguancun Smart Hardware Public Service Platform" and "Zhongguancun Smart Hardware Incubator" on March 27, this year.
It is the first construction incubator in Beijing and the only platform with smart hardware services in each step of the industrial and manufacturing process in the country.
The "Dream Factory" has a fast hardware manufacturing platform, a smart hardware integrated service platform, and a self-media platform. The "Dream Factory" provides complete industrial chain services including fast sample making, plate making, and surface mounting to entrepreneurs and start-ups by gathering premium resources from across the nation.
The "Dream Factory" assists medium and small sized corporations, start-ups, and technological entrepreneurs in improving product research and development ability as well as accelerating industrialization. Lastly, the "Dream Factory" serves to promote development of the Beijing hardware industry.
An entrepreneur based in Zhongguancun Science Park for 20 years, President of "Dream Factory" Cheng Jing said she wishes to reduce the burden of technological entrepreneurs with the launch of the "Dream Factory".
"Beijing is a national, maybe even a global leader, in the hardware industrial economy, educational economy, and service economy. But when considering our manufacturing level, Beijing is relatively weak. This is one major reason that Beijing's hardware development is hindered," said Cheng.
"The entire manufacturing process from PCE Plate making, surface mounting, testing, to overall sample making only takes three to five days to complete with the help of the Dream Factory, whereas the process would usually take 40 days in Shenzhen," added Cheng.
"The platform is equipped with an entire set of fast facilities and devices, with experienced professional technicians supervising. These resources greatly shorten research and development time for tech companies. Thanks to the Dream Factory, the gap in hardware sample making and fast manufacturing in Beijing is filled," said Cheng.
Guo Hong, director of the Zhongguancun Administrative Commission said, "As the Dream Factory covers areas such as products, creative design, supply chain, software and hardware solutions, fast manufacturing, and professional technological services, its presence in Zhongguancun will create a great environment for smart hardware entrepreneurship and innovation."
