Francesco Senna, the Kempinski Beijing's chef at Villa Roma, is in Parma, Italy, this week to compete in the Past a World Championships. Thirty chefs from around the world will go toque-to-toque in Wednesday's opening round, each creating a pasta dish in 40 minutes and hoping to be one of the four finalists later in the week. Win or lose, Senna's creation for the competition will be on the new Villa Roma menu on July 15.
Temple Restaurant Beijing has announced it will create a new venue in The Courtyard space just vacated last week by high-flying chef Brian McKenna. Delicate dishes in a casual but elegant setting will be the order of the day.
Wines from Italy, one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world, will be paired at a four-course tasting dinner at Morton's Beijing on June 27; 900 yuan plus 15 percent service charge.
