Beijing’s delegation arrived at Lausanne Thursday for the International Olympic Committee 2022 Briefing for IOC members, which will take place from June 9 to 10.
Beijing will present its ideas for hosting the Winter Games— athlete-oriented, sustainable and economic — to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the first time.
The concepts raised by Beijing correspond to the key principles for future Games inscribed in the Olympics 2020 Agenda passed at the 127 plenary session of the IOC in December 2014, which highlighted low costs, sustainable development, higher credibility and global popularity.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Monday released an assessment report by the Evaluation Commission , which confirmed that Beijing has the key elements in place to stage a highly successful Winter Olympic Games in 2022.
Wang Anshun, mayor of Beijing city, published an article titled “A breath of fresh air from Beijing” to introduce Beijing’s measures, achievements and prospects on environmental protection and pollution control on Five-ring Flag today, a Chinese magazine on Olympics.
“We are committed to hosting a clean and sustainable 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games,” Wang said in the article.
