For college graduates with entrepreneurship dreams, the toughest difficulties are funding, networking, and the workplace. It is hard for college graduates to find partners when they expand businesses.
Thanks to the Beijing College Students Entrepreneurship Park, all of those difficulties are solved, says Zhang Yan, a college student selected by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education to move into the entrepreneurship park. The park not only provides free offices for two years, but also helps them network.
As a part of Zhongguancun Science Park, the entrepreneurship park is located in Fangshan District, Beijing's suburban area. The total area reaches 10,000 square meters, with 5,000 square meters for entrepreneurship programs and the rest for supporting platforms, receptions, and management services.
The entrepreneurship park has an atmosphere for college students to work on their start-ups. Cooperating institutions including universities and enterprises are close to the entrepreneurship park.
The park is targeting college students who attend school in Beijing and new graduates from vocational schools, colleges, and graduate schools. Selected entrepreneurs may enjoy incubation and supporting services for two years.
"In order to provide better services to young entrepreneurs, we have organized a special management and service institution – college student entrepreneurship park administrative commission –in charge of daily management and government relations," said Cai Benrui, deputy director of the administrative commission.
"We hope to help the entrepreneurs reduce costs through our management and services," added Cai.
The supporting services such as catering, accommodation, transportation, and phone and network access have been completed and put into use, according to Cai.
Wang Yue, a college student whose company is located in the entrepreneurship park said that the network in the park is helpful. Her company was busy preparing for an exhibition under tight time pressure. Thanks to Wang Shuang, who leads a professional team in event planning, Wang Yue's company had a successful experience. Wang Yue and Wang Shuang met at an event by the entrepreneurship park. The communication between both sides went smoothly. The exhibition content and booth management were completed quickly and with high quality. Moreover, Wang Yue's company also enjoyed a discount retainer fee.
"We organize events for young entrepreneurship teams and college students in the neighborhood,to help them achieve more connections and creativity," said Cai.
Zhang Yan's Daozhuo Technology Corporation, recruited five junior students at one of those events.
As an important part of the incubation system for college students in Beijing, the entrepreneurship park is among the first such parks nationwide.
A total of 34 entrepreneurship teams have gone through the selection and joined the entrepreneurship park.
Apart from the two-year free office and facilities, the entrepreneurship park also provides platforms for technology, incubation services, and cloud services.
Zou Guanghua, CEO of the entrepreneurship team Vgool said that the cloud service platform has offered efficient, low cost, and secure services to his team.
Vgool is dedicated to establishing an app for on-campus sales. The most important part of the company's operation is a fast Internet connection. As facilities are complete in the entrepreneurship park, Zou plans to register a subsidiary company in the entrepreneurship park, he says.
Represented by the entrepreneurship park, public entrepreneurship has developed rapidly in Fangshan District. The high-end business buildings in Changliang and Doudian have a total area over a million square meters. Adding in programs in planning or construction, the number reaches five million square meters.
Located in the Beijing Advanced Manufacturing Base, the Zhongguancun Emerging Industry Technology Institute takes up 168,000 square meters and is able too support up to 2,000 research and development professionals. The Peking University's Applied Science Lab will soon join the institute.
High-end incubators developed by renowned investor Mao Daqing and New Development Group have been launched in High Education Park and Liangxiang Industrial Development Area. Such incubators provide incubation and acceleration services to start-ups and micro, small, and medium-sized corporations.
Furthermore, in cooperation with SkyOcean Group and the United Nation Office for Project Services, "SkyOcean Silicon Valley", the country's first knowledge economy demonstration area is under construction.
Fangshan District is completing a business ecosystem and transitioning towards high-technology.
Fangshan District and Zhongguancun Administrative Commission have agreed to establish an advanced high-tech industrial system through integrated innovation, rapid development, connection to regional economy, premium talent, and advanced programs.
Guided by Zhongguancun, the small and medium enterprises are continuously developing new patterns, industries, and growth. This revolution has effectively changed Fangshan's industrial situation from the old days – a district occupied by resource-based industries. Regional economy and innovative economy joined hands to push forward advanced industrial areas in Beijing.
In the future, Fangshan District will continue to launch preferential policies to support innovative entrepreneurship and complete the service system. In this way, an ecological system will be formed to stimulate talents, capital funds, technology, and management.
Focusing on each side's advantages, the Fangshan Technological and Innovative City will become a center of technological manufacturing and emerging industry in southern Beijing. The high-end technology, advanced environment, and global horizon will make the area an adventure park for entrepreneurs.
