Beijing will extend its three subway lines to Hebei province, according to the recently approved Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development Plan.
Yang Chuantang, Minister of Transportation, said the government will accelerate planning of the intercity railway network of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area in 2015 to realize traffic integration.
According to the plan, Beijing subway line 6 will be extended to Yanjiao Development Zone in Hebei province, subway Daxing line to Guan county, and subway Fangshan line to Zhuozhou city.
The central government developed the strategy to coordinate development of Beijing and its neighbors, Tianjin city and Hebei province, in 2014, to help relieve the capital city’s population burden and boost development of the surrounding areas.
