The Baoding-Zhongguancun Innovation Center was opened on April 28. Operated and managed by the Zhongguancun Development Group, the center will drive regional innovation and the integration of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province.
A total of 14 organizations, including North China Electric Power University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences South China Computer Research Center signed contracts and became cooperating partners.
Within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the center marks the beginning of the cooperation in machinery and technology.
The innovation center is located in the Diangu International Business Center. The city of Baoding, Hebei province, invested 520 million yuan ($83.9 million) to build the twin towers, with a 45 mu (30,000 square meters) constructed area and 62,000 square meters in total.
The innovation center will expand Zhongguancun's technological, financial and other services to Baoding city.
Baoding has an important position in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The city has 17 universities and colleges with more than 250,000 students in total. The city also has up to 110,000 technological experts and 33 academics.
A total of 154 innovative and high technological businesses, eight province level innovative corporations, and more than 1,000 small and medium technological companies are presented in Baoding. the city has six national and 120 city level innovation platforms. Recent years have seen growth in automobiles, energy, textiles and construction.
Focusing on business incubation and services, the innovation center will learn from the experience of Zhongguancun Science Park and make every effort to attract business in information technology, energy and mobile devices. It is beginning to drive Baoding's industrial transformation and industrial development.
The Zhongguancun Science Park has had several cooperative projects with Baoding, including six joint research and service platforms in energy with Beijing Jiaotong University Science Park, and others in Yi county and Tunzhou county.
Zhongguancun corporations have established 116 subsidiaries and 115 branch offices. Zhongguancun cooperates with Tianjin and Hebei in the regional integrated development national strategy.
Zhongguancun companies have optimized industrial chains, investing 20.4 billion yuan ($3.3 billion) in Hebei and 22.9 billion yuan ($3.7 billion) in Tianjin respectively.
Zhongguancun has gradually shared resources in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Peking University and Tsinghua University cooperate closely with Tianjin and Hebei.
Kechuang Company has established an incubator with 90 corporations in Tianjin's Dongli District, and the Zhonguancun Overseas Science Corporation also has an incubator in Dongli.
