The 5th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) will kick off in Beijing April 16. The film festival features seven major events, including appraisal of the Tiantan Award, opening ceremony, film panorama, themed forums, film market, film carnivals and closing ceremony.
This year's BJIFF, which runs through April 23, has attracted 930 movies from across the globe. 122 Chinese films and 808 foreign features will compete for the Tiantan Award. The closing ceremony will be held at Yanqi Lake International Convention Center in Beijing's Huairou district on April 23.
Launched in 2011, BJIFF is steadily progressing towards its goal to be "the best in Asia and top three in the world". It plays an important role in promoting rapid and healthy development of China's film industry and prosperity of the world's film culture.
