Hell on a bun

The arrival of warm weather prompts certain food cravings. If you're looking for this year's hot spot for a hot dog, in Beijing you might try going to the devil. That would be Satan's Hot Dogs, an inconspicuous shop on the hindquarters of Sanlitun SOHO. The dogs aren't as fiery as we expected from the name - but you can ask for more jalapeno chilies if you aspire to a higher circle of hell. The joint is keen to promote its health-consciousness - carefully sourced meats, whole-grain buns, etc etc - but there's no need to get too spiritual about it, especially under the watchful eyes of a grandly muralized Satan. Squeeze on some mustard and ketchup, and take a big bite.

Satan's Hot Dogs, 1/F Building 6, Sanlitun SOHO, 8 Gongti Beilu (North Road), Chaoyang district, Beijing. 010-5785-3813
