Beijing film festival announces gala premieres

The organizing committee of the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) has named four gala premieres at the upcoming 5th BJIFF that will open on April 16.

The four gala screenings include the Taviani brothers' Maraviglioso Boccaccio, Navdeep Singh's NH10, with Indian superstar Anushka Sharma, Downshifter from Russian director Roman Prygunov, and The Admiral, from the Dutch auteur Roel Reiné.

Original title: MARAVIGLIOSO BOCCACCIO (Opening Night Film)

Country: Italy

Director: Paolo Taviani and Vittorio Taviani

Synopsis: MARAVIGLIOSO BOCCACCIO adopts novel film-making approaches to re-interpret the 14th Century literary masterpiece The Decameron, which tells the story of a group of young people, seven women and three men, who take refuge outside Florence to escape the black plague and spend 10 days telling humorous stories, often with erotic overtones.
