A great deal for lobster fans

The Cafe Asia at the V-Continent Beijing Parkview Wuzhou hotel will present the Asia Pacific Seafood Festival from April 1 to May 31. Executive Chef Black Li and his team at Cafe Asia will prepare fresh seafood, especially Boston lobsters. The lobsters will have two flavors-scalded and garlic. The free-flow seafood buffet dinner will also have fish, prawns, sushi, sashimi, beef steaks, chicken BBQ, desserts, and a more. Chefs from India and Thailand will offer authentic Pacific cuisine.

Dinner Wednesday to Sunday, from April to May at 388 yuan (plus a 15 percent service charge) with free flow red wine, white wine, local beers, soft drinks and juices; 010-8498-2288; No 8 North SiHuan Zhong Road, Chaoyang district.

Flavors of Mexico

Flavors of Mexico is a food festival co-hosted by the Embassy of Mexico and Hilton Beijing. It will take place from April 9-23 in the hotel's One East and Elements restaurants. During the two-week food festival, guests will be able to enjoy authentic Mexican food at lunch and dinner prepared by guest Chef Eduardo Perez and the Hilton Beijing Executive Chef Andreas Bruck. Several events will take place during the festival to offer Beijingers and local diners an opportunity to experience Mexican culture, such as Tequila tasting and Salsa dancing classes. Chef Eduardo will create a variety of authentic flavors, by using local ingredients and specific sauces, such as Huitlacoche (a fungus that grows on corn plants, often served in soups), Achiote (a spice mixture made of red chilies), Epazote (aromatic herb).Diners will savor the exquisite dishes, by sampling the new trends in authentic, quality Mexican haute cuisine, well matched with Mexican wines, beer and tequila. Culinary highlights include Ceviche made with fresh fish cooked in lemon with tomatoes, onion and chilies to start, and the traditional Pollo Pibil, chicken legs and thighs in Recado Rojo (chili sauce) smothered with achiote paste and orange juice and slow cooked in banana leaves for mains. The dessert selections include Pan de Elote (corn cake), and Churros (fried sweet dough with sugar).

Niajo's new lunch sets

Niajo has launched all new set lunch menus-a three-course business lunch for 98 yuan, and a 160 yuan Paella three-course menu. The former includes free-flow bread and adding 22 yuan to enjoy a glass of cava, wine, beer, soft drink, or coffee or tea. The latter includes free-flow bread and a drink of your choice. Niajo offers authentic Spanish cuisine in the Sanlitun area.

Northeast food promotion

The St. Regis Beijing will present a northeast culinary delight in this spring through April 30 at The Celestial Court. The northeastern food of China originated from the city of Shenyang and was based on the Shandong cuisine, it is strongly influenced by the Manchu cooking style. It is characterized by the use of strong flavors, salt and oil. It differentiates in looks and in the complexity of the shapes. Northeastern food always uses specialty raw and green food materials. Many of the dishes appear seem to be simple, home-style food. This northeastern food feast includes delicious deep-fried, pork, braised beef with small potatoes, braised pork spare ribs with snap-bean, marinated tossed mung clear noodles in sauce, and a lot more.
