Beijing's Economic Technological Development Area, or E-town, recently finished the first government-backed waste-heat recovery project using new heat-pump technology to help Wall's, a major food producer in E-town to use thermal energy for pasteurization.
Previously, in its pasteurization the company’s technical limits lead to the loss of waste heat, requiring more energy, but this project will significantly improve energy conservation while cutting emissions.
The heat recovery project was jointly conducted by the Wall's and Beijing Chongke High-Technology Development Company. It is a major part of E-town's 3-year action plan. The development and reform bureau has commissioned a study of waste heat in the town and will expand the project after it proves successful at Wall's.
