After presentations and negotiations at the 3rd China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services, several Chinese satellite entities and enterprises will constitute the Alliance of Satellite Application Service. Preparations are under way.

China Prepares to Establish Alliance of Satellite Application Service

China is preparing to establish the Alliance of Satellite Application Service. According to a person in charge, due to the robust global demand for aerospace technology application, Chinese enterprises are jointly promoting Chinese satellites to serve the world. Wang Zhongguo, deputy director of the International Liaison Department of the China High-Tech Industrialization Association, disclosed that preparations for the Alliance of Satellite Application Service are under way and the date of establishment will be unveiled at an appropriate time. The alliance includes Chinese satellite system operators, software developers, terminal equipment manufacturers, service providers and major customers, and will absorb major foreign operators in the future.

Beidou Satellite will be an important member of the alliance. Sources said Beidou Satellite will be an important member of the alliance. Beidou's services will cover the world in 2020. According to Shen Jun, deputy director of the International Cooperation Center, China Satellite Navigation Office, Beidou System consists of five geosynchronous earth orbit satellites, three inclined geosynchronous earth orbit satellites and 27 medium earth orbit satellites. Beidou's traffic information system terminals have been installed on over 10,000 taxis in Bangkok. Of Beidou's mass market applications, the smartphone with Beidou Navigation Satellite System is the largest user.

"China's global satellite services" guide aerospace enterprises out. With a development history of over 60 years, China's aerospace is up to world standards in the satellite field, and has enough experience and capability to serve the world, Wang said. Like an "aircraft carrier", the Alliance of Satellite Application Service will be a civil window via which China's aerospace goes out, said Wu Xiaomei, secretary-general of the Defense S&T Productivity Center. Guided by the national strategy of "going global", Chinese aerospace enterprises have conducted a lot of exploration and business practice in advancing the globalization of aerospace, and many outstanding enterprises have been capable of providing products and services to global customers, said Yin Liming, president of China Great Wall Industry Corporation. Due to the robust global demand for aerospace technology application and the heavy responsibility of Chinese enterprises, concerted efforts should be made to promote Chinese satellites to serve the world.
