Professor jailed 11 years for embezzlement

A professor from Beijing Normal University was sentenced to 11 years in prison for embezzlement of public funds, Beijing News reported. Zhang Lixin, 48, cheated the university out of 255,000 yuan ($40,980) from 2008 to 2009. In 2011, he cheated an institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences out of 450,000 yuan in scientific research fees. He used the money to buy an SUV.
