Construction work on an R&D and production center for the GE Medical Systems (China) Co will soon be completed, according to a Nov 28 report from E-Times, a weekly of Beijing's Economic Technological Development Area (E-town).
The six-storey building is expected to be ready for use in 2016 and covers 70,000 square meters. It is being built by Kuntin Investment Management Group and is designed to meet GE Medical's needs for at least five years, mainly in R&D and trial production of large medical imaging equipment, such as CTs, nuclear MRI, and X-rays, with staff saying that it will advance the China branch's R&D capacity, and that GE is looking forward to developing more medical products tailored to the Chinese markets to become a leader in China.
And the architecture is green, according to the people in charge of the construction, who said that it complies with the US's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and is thee-town’s second architecture with an LEED certificate. It puts safety and energy conservation first, from the small LED lamps to the large fire control system.
