The 2014 Gotrues Cultural and Arts Festival kicked off in Beijing’s Chaoyang district on Dec 10, offering culture and art lovers a chance to enjoy priceless artworks.
As a part of the Beijing International Cultural & Creative Industry Expo, the festival will run through until Jan 31. It has already attracted more than 200 exhibitors nationwide who are showcasing some 10,000 pieces of traditional Chinese artworks, including jade, paper cutting and Jingdezhen porcelain. There will also be forums, lectures and other major activities during the event.
"During the festival we will hold auctions and exhibitions every week," said an official at Gotrues. Among others, a precious inkstone collected by the National Museum of China will be displayed throughout the festival. And unreserved auctions will be held so art lovers can bid for jade, bracelets and other popular items.
Another highlight of the event is an exhibition of Ma Haifang’s paintings with old Beijing as its theme; and the audience will have a chance to see Ma create his works at the exhibition.
In addition, Fang Shuhua’s private collection of oil paintings, Jiang Kun’s calligraphy works and calligraphy works by Zeng Xiang’s students will also be exhibited at the event. There will also be seminars and lectures on a wide range of other topics.
Located in eastern CBD, Gotrues is a 110,000 square meter compound along the Gaobeidian section of the Tonghui River in Chaoyang district. Dedicated to art exhibitions and the trade, it is now home to nearly 1,000 art agencies that offer more than 10,000 pieces of priceless artworks. Gotrues is now a national demonstration base of the cultural and creative industry.
