As one of the 16 sub-parks of Zhongguancun Science Park, Xicheng Park has nearly 60 national and city level research institutions, three state key laboratories and five national engineering research centers. It is a core area for world-class designs and also one of the first batch of national demonstration bases for the integration of culture and technology.
A large number of scientific research institutions, technology personnel and high R&D capabilities of the park help promote the development of high-tech industries in Xicheng district.
Government investment boosts the park's development
As an important part of Zhongguancun Science Park, Desheng Science and Technology Park in Xicheng district opened on May 24, 2002.
At that time, the park covered an area of 2.9 square kilometers. There were only three high-tech enterprises in the park with total income reaching only 13 million yuan.
In 2013, Desheng Science and Technology Park was officially renamed Xicheng Park. Its scope extended nearly five kilometers to the west and south with an area adjusted from 5.64 square kilometers to 10 square kilometers. In order to optimize the developing environment for enterprises, Xicheng Park preliminarily formed a "1+X" policy system, which supports policies specializing in publishing originality, technology incubation, design services and so on.
The municipal government is investing more than 100 million yuan ($16.25 million) annually to support the park's development.
Xicheng Park's income exceeds 100 billion yuan
By this September, high-tech enterprises in the park have maintained stable growth.
The total revenue of 184 high-tech enterprises reached 67.54 billion yuan, growing 15.7 percent year-on-year. The industrial output value reached 20.26 billion yuan with a year-on-year growth of 17.7 percent.
Total profit amounted to 9.87 billion yuan, a year-on year growth of 22.2 percent. Total exports reached 2.13 billion yuan, growing three-fold year-on-year.
There are over 14,000 technical staff in high-tech enterprises in the park with total income exceeding 100 billion yuan for the first time. Xicheng Park will develop into a cluster of urban modern service industries based on original design, research and development services, publishing originality and science technology finance.
Enterprises entering Xicheng Park can apply for innovation funds
DRC Beijing industrial design and creation base can be called a model of creative industrial parks in China. It was remade from an old telephone equipment factory which belonged to the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
Besides offices, there are materials exhibition centers, CNC model centers and laboratories at the base. Companies registered there can not only apply for innovation funds for high-tech enterprises and minor enterprises, but also enjoy supporting policies.
Since January, 2006, there were over one hundred domestic and international famous brand design companies covering industrial products design, network animation design and network media settled in the base.
