Beijing is promoting its green development with its Technological Development Area as a key economic zone, referred to as Beijing E-Town, holding a green development conference, on Oct 28, with both US and Chinese enterprises on hand to discuss ecological zones in urban areas, resource conservation, and environmentally friendly communities.
The conference had Municipal Science & Technology Commission and the US's China Energy Cooperation Program support and gave a review of the E-town's recent ecological work and innovation strategy, where the administration explained that the area is looking for low-carbon development and green market methods, and a balance between the economy and ecology.
Overall energy utilization in the area is above 70 percent, it reports, along with an annual CO2 reduction of 800 ton, with the BOE Technology Group Co as a good example, thanks to its focus on semiconductor display technologies, products and services. Its photovoltaic power generation program can save 20 million kilowatt-hours, the biggest photovoltaic roof power program Beijing has seen. And, even more amazing, the sewage utilization of the program is 100 percent and it has a water resource system that processes tap water, rainwater, underground water, recycled water, and sewage, making them all useful. In addition, land use efficiency and energy consumption are in the lead in the country, while water and coal consumption are only a third of Beijing's average, putting it on its way to becoming a role models in the country.
The administrators say they will push the area as a world class zone that is resource efficient and environmentally friendly, in addition to being a modern technological innovation.
