Xicheng district covers an area of 30 square kilometers, which is divided into 10 neighborhood committees with a population of about 750,000.
Zhongnanhai (Central & South Sea), the seat of the Party's Central Committee, is located in the district. Xidan commercial district and financial institutions are concentrated here. The Forbidden City, Beihai Park, Round City, and Zhongshan (named after Dr Sun Yatsen) Park are located here.
Its GDP was 19.5 billion Yuan ($ 3.13 billion) in 2000, which was 13.4 percent higher over the previous year.
