The Design More Carnival was held at Chaoyang Park as a travel-themed event, designed by architect Liu Xiaopu, in a bid to promote online-to-offline design consumption. More than a dozen companies including local furniture brand acf: home and Kikkerland Design, the US design products giant, took part in the show.

While the theme park only runs for a limited time, Design More has a permanent online store at Tmall.com, a major retail website operated by Alibaba Group.

Aside from the Design More line, the offerings include products from nearly 100 international designers like Philippe Starck, Florentijn Hofman and Alessandro Mendini. Most are offered at a favorable prices.

The logo for Design More, designed by Italian designer Giovannoni, has been applied to the entire line, from stuffed toys to digital products.

"It's a young cat, a child. Its big eyes are able to feel emotions. He has a very open mind and is open to life and sees life as a wonderful thing," Giovannoni says in his online introduction.

Beijing Design Week is an annual city-wide event that celebrates the added value of design, promoting design consumption and international exchange. Now in its sixth year, it featured Barcelona as the guest city.
